.eu is the country-code TLD for the European Union, operated by EURid under contract with the European Commission. Eligibility is restricted to people and organisations with a recognised tie to the EU or EEA.

Eligibility
A.eu registration requires the registrant to be one of:
- A citizen of an EU or EEA member state, regardless of where they live.
- A resident of an EU or EEA member state.
- An organisation established in an EU or EEA member state (company, NGO, public body).
Features
- WHOIS privacy. Limited. EURid publishes name and contact email by default for legal entities; natural persons have the option to redact some fields, but the registry’s data must remain accurate.
- DNSSEC. Supported.
- IDN. Supported across all EU official scripts (Latin, Greek, Cyrillic).
- Auth (EPP) code. Issued instantly from the domain panel.
Things to know
After Brexit, EURid removed UK-only registrants from the eligible list. UK citizens with EU/EEA residence are still eligible. UK residents without EU citizenship can’t hold a.eu.
