Email Disk Usage shows the size of every mailbox on your account, broken down by folder (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Trash, etc.). When mail is eating into your account quota, this is the fastest way to see who and what’s responsible. Open it from cPanel home → EmailEmail Disk Usage.

What you see

A list of every mailbox with total size. Click a mailbox to drill into its folders:
FolderTypical sizeCleanup tip
InboxThe bulkArchive or delete old messages
SentOften hugeSent mail piles up unnoticed. Periodically clean
DraftsSmallOld half-written drafts. Safe to delete
TrashVariableTrash isn’t auto-emptied. Empty Trash here clears it
SpamVariableSame as Trash. Empty regularly

Bulk delete from a folder

Each folder row has a Manage button:
  • Delete Permanently — empties the folder, no undo.
  • Delete Messages by Date — drop everything older than X. Useful for “clean Trash older than 30 days” without losing recent items.
  • Delete Messages by Read Status — drop only-read or only-unread. Useful for clearing newsletter mailings out of the inbox.
Deletes from Email Disk Usage are immediate and permanent. They don’t go to Trash — they’re gone. Take a JetBackup snapshot before bulk-deleting if there’s any chance you’ll want the mail back.

Tips

  • Trash and Spam quietly grow. Most clients don’t auto-empty these. Periodic cleanup can free gigabytes.
  • Sent folder is the silent storage hog. Especially on long-running mailboxes. Worth a once-a-year check.
  • Quotas warn at 80% and 95%. Once a mailbox hits its quota, new mail is rejected. Either bump the quota in Email Accounts or clean up.
